A prison in the southcentral Nigeria was heavily attacked by unknown armed men and freed 240 inmates and as a matter of fact almost everyone in the prison was freed.
According to a spokesman for the correctional service Francis Enobore, the attackers started a gun battle with guards on a Sunday night at the medium-security prison at Kabba in Kogi state, southwest of the federal capital Abuja and a total of 240 inmates were released forcefully.
No details were given as to how many casualties sustained the incident. “He appealed to the general public to provide useful intelligence that will assist in recapturing the escapees to security operatives,” said Enobore.
the security prison was established in 2008 with a 200 inmates capacity, however a prison service confirmed that a total of 294 inmates were in custody at the time; 224 pre-trial detainees and 70 convicted.
