Cholera Alert!! 46 Dead!!!
Cholera is an acute infectious bacterial disease that causes severe diarrhea, cramps and dehydration which is usually spread through the ingestion of contaminated water. The Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control ( NCDC) recorded 46 deaths linked to suspected cholera cases in the country.
This crisis was made known via the official website of the Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control, it was reported that within a period of one week, 1,677 people were infected by the cholera disease in 12 states; ( 566 cases in Bauchi, 282 cases in Katsina, 258 cases in Sokoto, 183 cases in Yobe, 179 cases in Borno,94 cases in Niger, 66 cases Kaduna, 34 cases in Adamawa, 8 cases in Gombe,4 cases in Kano, 2 cases in Kebbi and 1 case in Nasarawa).
46 was reported dead among the 1,677 recorded cases of cholera in the 12 states within a period of one week in the country.
In the report given by the public health agency, it was made known that between the period of August 30 to September 5, a total number of 2,323 people had died in 25 states in the country as a result of cholera infections.
There are several causes of cholera disease, which can lead to death of victim, the causes includes unclean practices such as, drinking of dirty/ unclean water, open defecation,etc,which results to the spread of water-borne diseases such as cholera, which may result to death if not properly treated.
The cholera disease is a waterborne disease that is harmful to the human body, it can however be prevented by maintaining clean and proper hygiene, use clean and safe water and avoid dirt always. STAY SAFE!!!
